About Us

The story of El Guadalajara or El GDL begins with Marco Cortes best known as “Pitayo” and Rosa Torres who migrated from Jalisco, Mexico settling in Teton Valley. Together with their 3 children, the Cortes family began their journey. After moving to Driggs the Cortes realized that there was a lack of authentic Mexican food in the community. In 2020, Marco began selling tamales, burritos, and hot chocolate in the back of his car which he would deliver to construction sites and hotels in Jackson.

Marco and Rosa’s food became famous around the valley. They decided to pursue their dream by opening their first food truck in 2023 behind Victor’s Mobil gas station. Having excellent support from the community, a year later, the Cortes family has the honor of opening their first restaurant, El Guadalajara or El GDL.
